Filter Yummies 2011, Part 2

To the second part of our 2011 Filter stuffs blog (check the 1st part here) we've collected links to some of the best interviews, show reviews, and most gorgeous photos we've seen regarding Filter last year. Enjoy! Note that you will also find several video interviews 2011 on our Youtube channel.

We start with Little Rat Bastard's interview with Richard Patrick in March. Great photos in there, too!

Guitarist Rob Patterson gave an interview to Whips and Chords.

"The band’s name “Filter” came from just the overall functionality of the brain. Everybody’s brain is a filter."
Q&A with Richard Patrick of Filter on Zetalambmary Magazine.

Guitar.com made an interview with Richard Patrick, Phil Buckman, and guitarist Jonny Radtke, who joined the band for the autumn tour.
Laughing in the Face of Madness – The Filter Interview

"I've actually started to laugh at myself, I just don't take it that seriously anymore, I just don't think that life has to be that serious, especially when you're singing and entertaining. The audience is like sitting there laughing having a great time. That, at the end of the day, is why I got into this."
An Interview with Richard Patrick of Filter on San Fransisco Bay Area Concerts.

"Filter might be popping up in smaller clubs these days, but its gritty, electric majesty hasn’t deflated." - show review on PopMatters:
Filter: 3 November 2011 - Redondo Beach, CA

"Lucky for Orlando, Filter didn't get the memo that opening acts are supposed to warm up the show, not steal the spotlight." - Show review on Concertlivewire:
The Three Musicteers

"Being the headliner, you would expect Filter to be the talk of the show. Yet, the way Filter blasted through the setting, delivered the set they did, and treated their fans afterwards, a lot of other bands should have been there to take notes." - Show review on Columbus Wired:
Filter and Saliva Break Out of the Basement

After all the reading, why not rest your eyes viewing some beautiful photos. The first link below takes you to a collection of pics from Filter's show in Helsinki, Finland, June 17, taken by Marisol Correa. The second one is for a photoshoot with Gino Carlini.

Filter Yummies 2011, Part 1

What an eventful year it has been for Filter and fans!

The handful of gigs in the spring, including the famous "punk rock show" at SXSW in March, was just the beginning: Filter had a total of four tours this past year.

The European tour in June had shows in Russia, Finland, Estonia, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. It was soon followed by the Under the Skin of Angels tour in the US, with Saliva, Anew Revolution, and Heart-Set Self-Destruct.

In September, Filter teamed up with Bush and Chevelle and toured all autumn in the US again until it was time for the Shiprocked Cruise. In early December, the band also made a quick visit to Alaska for shows in Anchorage and Fairbanks.

And right before the holidays, Filter took off for a tour in Kuwait to perform for the troops.

We made playlists of some great videos from the tours, check them out on our Youtube channel. There's a playlist for some video interviews as well. Thanks to everyone who've uploaded their stuff on Youtube for all of us to enjoy!

Let's not forget the fact that Filter also made an awesome cover of ZZ Top's Gimme All Your Lovin' for the album ZZ Top - A Tribute From Friends.

Both the album and Filter's rendition got some good reviews, a couple of them below on Loudwire. You can also listen to the full song through the little player at the end of the song review.

Jonny Radtke Joins Filter For Tour

Guitarist Rob Patterson, who joined Filter spring 2010, is taking some time off from the band for personal reasons.

New guitarist for Filter's upcoming tour is Jonny Radtke.

This is what Filter posted earlier this week:
Our brother, Rob Patterson, will be taking some personal time, and will not be joining us on this upcoming tour. We wish him the best, and hope he accomplishes his goals. Fear not, FILTER friends... We'd like to introduce you to Jonny Radtke. Jonny comes to us by way of ASHES dIVIDE, and Kill Hannah. His guitar playing, style, and personality have made for a seamless fit alongside Richard, Mika, and Phil. Please join us in welcoming Jonny Radtke to the Fold!

Tour kicks off in San Diego, CA, September 27. Check the tour dates and news on the official website of Filter.

Needless to say, we love Rob and hope to see him with Filter again, but we also welcome Jonny to the band with open arms. Have the greatest tour!
